Sierra Nevada By Storm

Brian Golden - Friday, September 28, 2012

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is taking over the taps of Bown Crossing tomorrow.

I really don’t need to say any more than that, but just in case you have recently returned from a 30 year vacation on Mars, allow me to fill you in.

Craft beer may be all the rage today, but back in 1980, it was about as popular as root canal.  It took the iron will of a few boys in California, willing to mortgage life and limb, to build the foundation for all the amazing brews we see today.  And if you start talking pioneers, Sierra Nevada Brewing founder Ken Grossman’s name will be at the top of a very short list.

Sierra Nevada is an elite in the world of craft brewing, and this tap takeover is a rare chance to taste firsthand what it means  to be the best.  There will be 24 different thoroughbreds on parade tomorrow, and the only challenge will be deciding where to start.  The chance to try a library like this is nothing short of getting to shake hands with the Yankees.  And the Lakers.  And 22 of your other favorite teams.

Back in 1980 when Ken Grossman and his partner Paul Camusi made the leap from their garage to their dream, it must have been hard to imagine where they would be today.  But I know where I will be tomorrow, and you should be there too.

Sierra Nevada beers will be featured from 11am-6pm at Boise Fry Company, Flatbread in Bown, The Tavern at Bown Crossing and Bier Thirty.  A $20 ticket gets you a 3oz sample of 20 different beers.  Get your hands on a Super Rocket V-8 Imperial Porter, 3 vintages of Bigfoot Barleywine, the El Plurorado single hop Golden Ale (never released), and so many more…
