Let Them Drink Pinot!

Dodds Hayden - Wednesday, August 08, 2012

10:30 am, Tuesday. I am rolling some dark violet wine around my glass and filling my office with my favorite incense - strawberry/cherry aromas of pinot noir. It is the hazzard and gift of our profession. Don't hate.

This Month, we acquired the rights to Mark West wines for the state of Idaho. We coveted this brand from afar, and are excited to have it in the fam. The winery produces Pinot and Chard and flies their flag with the motto, "Pinot for the People!" The pinot wholesales for around $7.50. Robert Parker said, "There are plenty of Domestic Pinot Noirs and Fench Burgundies priced five to ten times higher that are not as good as this effort from Mark West". I have have to say it is an excellent, mid-morning sipper (mind you, these are clinical trials). In my opinion, Pinot Noir provides the greatest range of styles of any grape varietal (making it very interesting and my favorite). This one runs on the earthy, herbacious side. But don't take my (or Parker's) word for it. Pop a cork! Cool website too - p://
